Matthew was born in Ogdensburg, NY, a town nestled along the scenic St. Lawrence River. His journey in healthcare began after completing a Bachelor’s in Biology from SUNY Brockport with a concentration in genetics. He furthered his education at Galen College of Nursing in St. Petersburg, FL and went on to obtaining his MSN from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO, specializing in Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Matthew specializes in cardiovascular health while being committed to quick and effective care via direct primary care, striving to empower patients on their path to improved well-being.

Zhaklin is Persimmon Health’s Co-Founder and CEO. She obtained her MBA in Healthcare Administration from Western Governors University. Since then, Zhaklin has pursued a successful career in concierge practice development and business management. Her passion for providing personalized care with focus on prevention has led to the creation of Persimmon Health in partnership with her husband Matthew Smith.
